Kaarvan Crafts Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Monday. According to this new contract, the National Incubation Center (NIC) at LUMS will take the Urban Entrepreneurship development model to the Rural Women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level.
The aim of this partnership is to bridge the urban-rural divide through participatory design, where 30 female entrepreneurs are already engaged in the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) program in partnership with The British Asian Trust.
While talking about the MoU, Head of MER at Kaarvan Saad Akbar has said, “working with the NIC, Kaarvan aims to provide tools and share knowledge that cater to the needs and demands of the rural community.
This contract has been made after the success of one week workshop organised in December, where the NIC team had met with various rural micro-entrepreneurs of Bahawalpur and had gauged a sense of their livelihood and business challenges.
