Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif issued a misogynistic statement in response to the ruling party's criticism during the National Assembly session on Monday. When a woman member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) commented on Asif's remarks, he said to the speaker, "Mr. Speaker, when we listen to voices from this [government's] side, we are unsure about their gender."
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Khawaja Asif also exchanged hot words during the session.

Earlier in 2016, Asif had referred to Shireen Mazari as 'tractor trolley' in an apparent reference to her appearance. He received flak for his remarks but did not apologise for practicing misogyny.
