Young People Most Affected By Coronavirus In Pakistan
Pakistan’s coronavirus data analysis have confirmed that contrary to China and Italy – where people with ages higher than 50 were affected the most by coronavirus, a majority of the 1,022 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan constitutes young people with ages between 21 and 30 years.

According the daily updates of World Health Organisation (WHO), 34% of coronavirus cases in Pakistan are confirmed in people aged between 18 to 35 years, 24% in people with ages between 35 and 50 years. Moreover, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza during a media briefing on Wednesday confirmed that 24 percent of the confirmed cases in Pakistan to date are between 21 and 30 years of age.

The pattern is unlike other countries like China and Italy, where coronavirus cases mostly comprise older people.

Although the SAPM did not share a complete picture of coronavirus trend in Pakistan, one can conclude that no age group is immune to the virus — the young and the old are equally susceptible to contracting the disease.

Dr Zafar Mirza said that local transmission of the virus stands at 7 percent, meaning that 93 percent of the confirmed patients contracted the disease from foreign-affected countries. “Men account for 64 percent of the case, with 36 percent being women,” the SAPM said.

Dr Zafar further shared that 5,225 people are currently isolated in quarantine facilities across Pakistan. Of these, 23 percent have tested positive, while all others are being sent back to their homes with explicit instructions for protection.

The national toll of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 1098, with the provincial governments of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirming 413, 323, 131, and 121 cases respectively. Moreover, the government officials have confirmed eight coronavirus deaths in Pakistan.
