Star batsman Babar Azam has brushed aside 'selfish' batting criticism saying that he plays according to the plan outlined by the team management.
"I play according to the plan given to me by the team, I am not playing for myself, this isn't my team, this is Pakistan's team and I play for it. We were losing wickets and my job was to build partnerships," said Azam.
Azam, who scored 112 in 108 balls against Afghanistan, was questioned by the journalist over his 'slow strike rate'. Though he batted at a strike rate of 103, Babar said that it was not his main objective. "My game isn't to go out there and bat at a strike rate of 100-120, my job is to bat out the overs and build partnerships."

Speaking about the pitch, Babar said that it wasn't an easy one to bat on. "The pitch was not easy, it was on the slower side early on and we wanted to build partnerships. I managed to do that with Shoaib bhai but after that, we were not able to build more partnerships."
He also said that his form was good and that the England tour helped him prepare according to the conditions. "Going forward, we'll try to do our best in upcoming matches. We're lacking a little in bowling and we'll try to cover that and perform well in the next match," he said.
