Reporter Ali Imran who went missing on Friday night has returned home. His family has confirmed his recovery.
Imran's colleagues have confirmed that he is currently with his family. According to Geo News, he called his wife to inform her that he had reached his mother's house.
Politicians and prominent journalists had condemned Ali Imran’s disappearance, with some terming it an abduction. PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz held the government responsible for the reporter’s disappearance and said, “Stop kidnapping people for speaking up for the truth.” She added that the reporter went missing for sharing the CCTV footage of Safdar’s arrest.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also condemned Imran’s disappearance, saying that the incident is an attack on press freedom.
Amnesty International had urged the authorities to recover him immediately and stated that he may have been subjected to enforced disappearance for his reporting.
