Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has criticised Maulana Tariq Jameel for his remarks against the country's women whereby he called them 'immodest' on live TV. The HRCP indicated that the religious clergy being allowed to air such comments on national television leads to more misogyny and discrimination against women in the real world.
The statement said, "HRCP is appalled at Maulana Tariq Jamil's recent statement inexplicably correlating women's 'modesty' to the Covid-19 pandemic. Such blatant objectification is unacceptable and, when aired on public television, only compounds the misogyny entrenched in society".

This statement was in response to his speech on a pre-Ramzan live telethon, in which he blamed ‘immodest women’ for causing coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan. He said that ‘behaya‘ (immodest) women are a national issue and curing the nation of immodesty might lead to a better tomorrow.
People on twitter have also been calling him out for the blatant sexism and objectification of women he has been indulging in for years. A lot of young people have claimed that they used to respect him but now, that won't happen anymore, because of his hate speech against women at every occasion.

Earlier, in a video of a sermon that had gone viral on social media, preacher and Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel openly objectifies and sexualises women to an audience of hundreds of men. While explaining the concept of hoors in Islam, he says that the men who enter paradise will be greeted by 70 virgin women, hoors, who will be there to serve them as a reward from Allah.
