Model Rubbab Ali is the latest LSA Nominee to announce her withdrawal for the award show. She had been nominated for the female model of the year.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the model stated: “I’m joining other artists in withdrawing from LSA2019 – and I encourage everyone reading this (nominated, interested or a fan) to speak up against sexual harassment in our society.”
Ali further added that she has been working in this industry for 8 years and it makes her sick to her stomach to see kind of casual harassment and inappropriate behavior towards women that gets excused in the name of social ‘norms’.
Previously, makeup artist Fatima Nasir, singer Meesha Shafi, model Eman Suleman, makeup artist Saima Bagfrede, clothing brand Generation and rock band The Sketches have requested to be removed from the awards.
