Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met several world leaders on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, discussing bilateral relations, economic cooperation and areas of mutual interest.
Shehbaz met Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and longstanding ties with Kuwait.
The two leaders reviewed the full range of bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Shehbaz emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to its relationship with Kuwait.
The prime minister also held talks with Kenyan President William Ruto to review the overall state of Pakistan-Kenya relations.
Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation with Kenya across several areas, including politics, the economy, trade, defense, education and people-to-people contacts.
The meeting with Ruto was part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic engagement during the opening of the UN General Assembly session, where leaders are holding discussions on bilateral and international issues.
Shehbaz also held separate informal meetings with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The meetings provided an opportunity for the leaders to exchange views on bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan has been seeking to strengthen diplomatic and economic engagement with partner countries through high-level meetings on the sidelines of major international forums.
The prime minister’s engagements in New York come as world leaders gather for the 81st UN General Assembly session, which brings together representatives from countries around the world to discuss international peace and security, development, and other global challenges.
For Pakistan, the UNGA provides a platform to advance diplomatic priorities and hold bilateral meetings with leaders from key partner countries.
Shehbaz is scheduled to participate in the high-level proceedings and engage with other international leaders during his stay in New York.
