Former DG ISI General Hamid Gul (late)'s son Abdullah Gul has claimed that Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi was not ill at the time of his passing, suggesting that his death was part of a 'conspiracy'. A local newspaper quoted him as saying that Islamic scholars are being 'martyred' one after another and that Rizvi's death is part of the same pattern.
He further said that he had held a detailed meeting with the deceased a day before his death, adding that he did not show any signs of illness.
TLP leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi passed away in Lahore on Thursday. According to reports, he was admitted to Shaykh Zaid Hospital after falling ill. His family told the media that the deceased had been suffering from a fever for the past two days. Some reports suggested that the TLP chief had been down with Covid, but it remained unconfirmed as to what caused his death. The death certificate issued by the hospital did now show the cause of death.
Moreover, Rizvi's death remained shrouded in a bit of mystery for an hour or so on Thursday night when the workers of the TLP began sharing a voice note and a video clip claiming that Rizvi had come back to life and was being shifted back to the hospital. Some senior journalists had also tweeted this rumour, leading to confusion about whether or not the firebrand cleric had passed away. It was later announced by TLP leaders that the belief of Rizvi coming back from the dead was misplaced, as his son had wrongly felt that the deceased’s arm was moving.
Meanwhile, the TLP chief's funeral drew huge crowds at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore on Saturday.
