During the Pakistan Tech Summit 2020 held in Silicon Valley on 15 February 2020 the services of Mr. Shoaib Sarwar, Deputy Consul General at Pakistan Consulate Los Angeles were lauded for promotion of Pakistani IT sector in the Silicon Valley.The summit was attended by a large number of Pakistani startups.
It is important to note that Mr. Sarwar supported the first ever Pakistan Tech Summit in the Silicon Valley during 2019. Prior to this initiative, no formal event was organised in Silicon Valley that showcased Pakistan's IT talent. Since the 2019 event, a number of Pakistani community organizations have started organizing similar events all across USA.
Mr. Sarwar, a career Foreign Service Officer, holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. Pakistanis living and working in the Silicon Valley, who have extensively interacted with Mr. Sarwar, say that due to his education in the United States and Europe, Sarwar understands the corporate landscape in the US. He is accessible to Pakistani diaspora, trade bodies as well as firms.
OPEN, an organization of Pakistani entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley is also planning to hold an event aimed at promoting investment in Pakistan on 14 March 2020. Governor Punjab and federal minister for Science and Technology are also expected to attend this event.
