The Foreign Office confirmed that they had arrived in Pakistan in 2017, and were found to possess counterfeit currency.
The two Indian officials, Dwimu Brahma and Paul Selvadhas were arrested on June 15 but freed after the intervention of the Foreign Office in the case.
They were accompanied by the second secretary of the Indian Embassy and the air attache, who are now sought by New Delhi for consultations on the India-Pak tensions.
Earlier, an FIR (First Information Report) registered at the Secretariat Police Station said the two officials ran over a pedestrian and subsequently attempted to flee.
Counterfeit currency notes were also recovered from one of the detained Indian high commission officials, the FIR added.
Neither the FO nor the Indian High Commission issued any formal statement.
The Indian media reported the incident as two Indian officials who went missing when they had left the office.
The media also reported that the Pakistani chargé d’affaires was summoned by the Indian External Affairs Ministry over the incident.
Media reports have claimed that the Pakistani mission in New Delhi was besieged by Indian intelligence agencies as soon the reports of arrest of the two Indian officials surfaced the news.
