The tweet quoting the WHO director-general cited the specific measures being taken by countries such as Iran, the UAE and Pakistan. In the case of Pakistan, it mentioned the “commitment to establishing temporary isolation units” as being praiseworthy.
Further, the WHO director-general called on countries to do more, especially in terms of adopting a “whole-government” approach to combating the pandemic. His statement noted: “We call on countries to implement proven public health measures aggressively: detect, test, isolate and care for every case, and trace and quarantine every contact.”
