An enraged mob demolished the dome and minarets of an Ahmadi worship place in Garmola Virkan village of Gurjranwala district. The kalima (Holy text) inscribed on the minaret of the worship place was also desecrated.
A video has been doing the rounds on social media wherein the mob can be seen chanting slogans and celebrating their act following the desecration.

According to unconfirmed reports, the police acted as an accomplice in the attack, which is often the case. The Ahmadi community has been at the receiving end of persecution and discrimination, but the authorities turn a blind eye to the bigotry against them.
Targeted killing of the Ahmadi community members also saw an increase in the past few months. In September last year, a 60-year-old Ahmadi shopkeeper was killed for his faith. The community representatives had noted that the ongoing violence against them is linked to hateful campaigns on social media.
