FAISALABAD: A Christian school, where 1,500 students are currently enrolled, is being destroyed as a disposal station for sewage water is being constructed there by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).
The loud noise of heavy machines is disrupting educational activities at NCSS, while students are also complaining about toxic fumes being released into the air due to the ongoing construction work.
Around 300 students who reside in the school’s hostel are also suffering due to the ongoing project.
Journalist Haroon Rashid said that he talked about this issue to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar, provincial chief secretary, Faisalabad Chief Commissioner and several news organisations, but to no avail.
“It will become a burning issue on the global level as 5,000 schools have to be built by a global consortium of countries that are working to provide free education to children,” he said during a television programme.
Meanwhile, a student of NCSS, namely Maria, said that WASA was building a sewage pump near the school which was disturbing their studies and the overall environment of the school.
