Appointment Of PTI Leader Who Slapped Woman Official Cancelled After Backlash
Following backlash, the appointment of PTI Sahiwal information secretary Naveed Aslam, who was arrested for slapping a woman official, as the district coordinator of Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) has been cancelled.

The move to appoint him generated criticism with activists questioning how a person who was himself guilty of violence against a woman can hold this positions His appointment was cancelled by PPWA chairperson Kaneez Fatima.

Aslam on September 24 slapped the Senior Female Postmaster (SPM) Officer Sofia Qasim in the GPO. He was arrested by the police afterwards on the same day. However he was released on bail from the court next day.

The next hearing of Aslam before the court of Judicial Magistrate Samina Ijaz was scheduled for Nov 19.
His petition against the case was dismissed by the Sessions Court Judge Munir Hussain Gill on October 21.
The counsel of Ms Sofia , Fazal Kareem said that Mr Aslam was using his political position to influence the case.
