Days after the Islamic State (IS) claimed to have established a province in Indian-occupied Kashmir, the group on Friday claimed that they have 'established a province' in Pakistan too.
According to a story published in VOA News, the ' Islamic State Pakistan Province' issued communiques via its global propaganda channel Amaq News Agency, in which the group took responsibility of the killing of a police officer in Mastung, Balochistan. The group also claimed to have shot a gathering of militants linked with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) group in Quetta.
Pakistani authorities have denied any presence of the Islamic State (IS) in the country. Military officials have also launched an intelligence-based operation against those affiliated with terrorist networks and are working within the country.
The group released no details about the boundaries of the territory it is now claiming. In previous Islamic State propaganda, all of Afghanistan and most of Pakistan, parts of modern Iran and Central Asia make up the so-called Khorasan Province. The terrorist group has also spoken about creating its own chapter of the Indian-subcontinent.
IS claimed responsibility of last month's suicide blast in a vegetable market, mostly occupied by members of the Hazara community. At least 20 people were killed, while dozens of others were martyred in the attack.
IS has increased attacks lately in the region, including taking credit for the group's Easter Sunday first-ever bombings in Sri Lanka that killed more than 250 people.
