King Salman on Tuesday announced to host families of Christchurch attack victims during the ongoing Hajj (Pilgrimage) season. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the kingdom will be hosting 200 pilgrims who belong to Christchurch attack victims.
It is pertained to mention here that Newzeland mosque shooting or the Christchurch attack occurred back in March 2019 when Brenton Tarrant opened fire during Friday prayers killing almost 50 individuals and wounding a lot more.
The attack was condemned from all over the world. It was a rather unique incident for Newzeland which has not witnessed such incidents before.
The said directive was announced by Sheikh Abdullatif bin Abulaziz Al-Asheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs.
Al-Asheikh said the hosting of the families during the Hajj season was part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to “confront and defeat terrorism” in all forms reports Arab News.
The Minister of Islamic Affairs added that his ministry was working with the Saudi embassy in New Zealand to ensure the invitees have everything they need to perform Hajj during their visit.
