Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) under its newly elected Vice Chairman Abid Saqi passed a resolution to challenge the recent verdict of Lahore High Court (LHC), that termed the constitution of special court in Pervez Musharraf, former President High treason case “unconstitutional.”
The council deliberated upon the LHC’s recent verdict declaring formation of the special court on the high treason case against Gen Pervez Musharraf (R) as unconstitutional and stated that assumption of jurisdiction by the high court at such a stage was uncalled for.
Abid Saqi was elected unopposed the vice chairman of PBC on Thursday after the election that was held at the PBC office, inside the Supreme Court building, and the meeting was chaired by Attorney General Anwar Mansoor. “From now on, there would be no strikes or demonstrations by lawyers,” the new chairman said.
