Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah has said that no Pakistani citizen can be dubbed a 'traitor'. He made these remarks while hearing a case filed by journalist Fakhar Durrani against treason charges levelled against him by private TV channel ARY News.
The IHC chief justice issued notice to the parties and sought their response. He also directed the state institutions not to harass the journalist. The court issued notices to interior and information secretaries as well as DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman and Inspector General (IG) Islamabad police have also been issued notices by the chief justice.
The hearing of the case was adjourned for two weeks.
