Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Javed Iqbal has ordered an inquiry against K-Electric on complaints relating to frequent unannounced power load-shedding, coupled with over-billing and violation of agreement with the federal government.
Iqbal ordered the probe while taking notice of complaints from the public and the reports in the media relating to the prolonged outages and billions of rupees worth over-billing being caused by K-Electric, Dawn reported.
The power company is also alleged of not complying with its agreement with the federal government, which required it to carry out the essential investment aimed at developing the supply system along modern lines.
Iqbal has also sought, from the NAB Karachi office, the part of the agreement signed by the KE, details of any investments made, and other relevant documents.
