Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has placed a ban on ARY News show 'Off the Record' with Kashif Abbasi for 60 days over Federal Minister Faisal Vawda's 'unethical act' of bringing a military boot to the show in a bid to mock fellow panelists from PPP and PML-N. The notice issued by the media watchdog further stated that the arguments made by Vawda were 'extremely frivolous, derogatory' and debased a state institution and that it was a deliberate attempt to demean the institution.

PEMRA has also banned host Kashif Abbasi from appearing on TV as an analyst or expert for 60 days, slamming him for not intervening to stop Vawda's act.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International South Asia has criticised PEMRA's decision saying that it is a violation of Kashif Abbasi's right to freedom of expression.
