A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) staff member at Heathrow Airport returned Rs6 million saving certificates, valued at Rs300 million, of a Pakistani passenger who was travelling from London to Islamabad.
The passenger, Muhammad Ashraf, was on his way to Islamabad from London on PIA flight PK786. Ashraf forgot his saving certificates and £4000 cash at PIA’s counter at the Heathrow Airport. The saving certificates are currently valued at Rs300 million.
The case was found by PIA staff member Muhammad Naveed Qureshi, who immediately gave it to Station Manager Iyaz Khan for safekeeping.
Qureshi told media that he had come across the saving certificates and case, adding that he had safely passed them to the real owner after tracking him down in Pakistan.
The staffer stated that the passenger had lost his bags prior to joining the immigration queue. The passenger had boarded the plane when he realised that he had lost his bag. He subsequently contacted PIA’s staff to inform them that he had lost all his belongings.
Qureshi stated that the passenger was sad and depressed that he had lost his savings. He added that the plane had flown off when he found the bag near a desk at the security gate.
He added, “I checked all details of the passenger from our system and took his contact details. The passenger realised that he had lost his life savings but didn’t know where. When we contacted him he was overjoyed and couldn’t believe it.”
Qureshi further said that the feeling was indescribable when the passenger erupted with joy after hearing the news that his saving certificates and cash had been found.
