Lahore: New Delhi has once again proved out to be an obstacle in an already charged atmosphere between the two countries, India and Pakistan. Sikh pilgrims who were all set to travel to Pakistan for 'Jor Mela', death anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji were barred from doing so at the eleventh hour.
The special train by Pakistani authorities bound to leave Wagah for Attari was never cleared by the Indian authorities. While at Wagah Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) Pardhan Sardar Tara Singh criticized the move, saying that the Modi government should not play politics over the religious matters, according to Express Tribune.
“We strongly condemned the act of the Indian government", Singh added.
Pakistani authorities liaising with Pakistani Sikh bodies had already arranged adequate transport, food, accommodation, etc for Sikh Yatrees.
