Abbottabad: A seven-year-old child hailing from Afghanistan`s Helmand province underwent surgery in one of the city`s private hospitals. The child got a second chance at life after a 2.5-kilogram tumor was removed from his brain.
The highly complicated surgery was performed by Dr. Abdul Aziz, a renowned Pakistani neurosurgeon. It is pertained to mention here that the said medical procedure was termed as 'extremely complicated' by Indian and Turkish experts previously reports The Express Tribune.
“Experts [from India and Turkey] had declared this surgery extremely difficult and complicated, but we proved that it was possible,” said Dr. Aziz while in conversation with The Express Tribune.
In the recent past, Pakistani medical practitioners have performed various other complicated medical procedures including an infant girl born with a damaged liver. The girl underwent surgery in the National Institute of Child Health (NICH).
According to the Express Tribune, the three-year-old child suffered incessant stomach aches and jaundice since birth. The infant was administered anesthesia and in an operation that lasted around six hours, the doctors dissected the infant’s intestine and fashioned a tube out of it.
As of today, the infant lives a routine life in Karachi`s Katti Pahari area.
