A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane ready to board was held back at the Kuala Lumper Airport by the Malaysian authorities for failure to pay lease dues for the aircraft.
According to source, the Boeing-777 was seized by the authorities on the order of a local Malaysian court.
The aircraft in question was leased back in 2015 from a Vietnamese and $14 million is the lease payment that PIA was unable to pay.
The passengers had already boarded when the plane was seized. The crew on the plane was told that they are not allowed to depart and they are now stranded in Kuala Lumpur due to the seizure, and will quarantine for 14 days as per protocols.
PIA’s Twitter account acknowledged this incident and said , “We are trying to resolve the issue at government level,
