Sikh pilgrims visiting Pakistan for Baisakhi Festival 2019 and Khalsa Anniversary have urged Pakistan and India to establish and maintain peace in the region.
Talking to APP, Jarnail Singh, a pilgrim from Canada, said that Pakistan, India, Iran and Bangladesh should introduce free trade with each other to combat poverty, violence and extremism in the region.
"The confrontation, violence, and hatred should come to an end and we should let peace prevail for our future generations," Jarnail said.
Singh also lauded the Pakistani authorities for providing up to the mark facilities e.g. accommodation, food and transport to the pilgrims. He also said that locals were also hospitable and greeted the pilgrims with hugs and selfies.
Ravinder Kaur, Jarnail's wife, also thanked the authorities for providing them the best facilities at offer and for making their pilgrimage safe.
Sukhdev Singh, an Indian pilgrim, commended Pakistan saying that the arrangements made by the authorities for the Sikh devotees to perform their religious obligations were appreciable and that such facilities were not even available to them in India.
"We feel at home as the people of Pakistan are hospitable. We feel that all of us are celebrating Baisakhi and Khalsa Janam Din in our own town," Sukhdev said.
Around 2,206 Sikh pilgrims arrived in Pakistan from around the world including India on April 13 for the celebrations of 320th Khalsa Janam Din and Baisakhi Mela.
