WB Pakistan Director Denies KP Minister's Claim Suspected Rapist Was Not Govt Employee
World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Illango Patchamuthu has denied that Sohail Ayaz, who had been arrested by Rawalpindi Police for suspect child abuse, worked for the World Bank.

In a tweet posted from his official account, the World Bank director stated that Sohail Ayaz had never worked for the World Bank, and that he had been hired by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government as a consultant on one of its projects.

He added that they would support the government to strengthen due diligence in its hiring to uphold highest ethical standards.

On Wednesday, Rawalpindi police arrested Sohail Ayaz, who confessed to sexually assaulting 30 children. The was part of an international child abuse gang and used to live-stream the abuse on the ‘dark web’.

Police had said that the suspect was employed as a consultant with the KP government on the Governance and Policy Project.

However, this had been denied by KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, who told media Sohail Ayaz was not working with the KP government on any project.
