The Punjab government has decided to incorporate material on the May 2025 India–Pakistan four-day conflict, referred to as “Marka-i-Haq,” into school curricula and to produce films and stage productions based on the episode, in a move aimed at promoting what officials describe as patriotism and national unity among young people.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Information Steering Committee, chaired by Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari in Lahore on Wednesday. The committee approved the inclusion of conflict-related content in academic syllabi, alongside cultural programming in both public and private educational institutions.
Officials said the initiative would also include the production of films under a provincial Film Fund focusing on “Marka-i-Haq” and themes of national cohesion. A stage play on the life and sacrifice of Shaheed Liaquat will also be produced under the auspices of the Alhamra Arts Council.
The four-day conflict, which took place in May 2025 between Pakistan and India—both nuclear-armed states—followed a militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan-based elements, an allegation Islamabad denied. The confrontation saw exchanges of artillery fire across the Line of Control, drone activity, missile strikes and aerial engagements. Pakistan stated it had downed several Indian fighter jets during the hostilities.
The committee also requested continued engagement by the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations with educational institutions, describing it as part of “intellectual and ideological guidance” for students.
Separately, the meeting discussed security arrangements ahead of Muharram, with directives issued for intensified monitoring of social media. A joint monitoring cell between the information and home departments will be established to track and counter hate speech, misinformation and provocative content, officials said.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani, Additional Secretary Home Maham Asif, Deputy Secretary Finance Shehzad Hotiana and Director Law Shahid Imtiaz.
