The media wing of the Pakistani military, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has announced that security forces killed an alleged terrorist from the Shehryar Mahsud group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group. This operation took place in South Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the ISPR,
“During intense exchange of fire, 1 terrorist, Peer alias Asad was killed. Killed terrorist was an active member of TTP since 2006.”
In the past few weeks, there have been several intelligence-based operations (IBOs) which resulted in deaths of several suspected members of the terrorist organizations active in the region. ISPR has noted earlier that these suspects have been accused of involvement in a number of violent activities that include “target killing, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, fire raid on security forces and improvised explosive device (IED) explosions.”
