Justice System Is Not A Priority Of Govt: Justice Khosa
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Saturday said that 'unfortunately', the justice system was not a priority of the government.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Khosa said that the judiciary had undergone several experiments in the past. He said that in some cases, amendments to laws were successfully made, while recommendations for improvements were issued against others.

"Recommendations and amendments to existing legislation are not presented in the Parliament for improving judicial policy," Justice Khosa said, adding that one of the primary responsibilities of the judiciary was to provide swift and affordable justice.

He also raised objections over the lack of punctuality in judicial matters.

The top judge also revealed that last year in Britain and the United States, the Supreme Court announced verdict of 100 cases, while Pakistan's apex court announced verdict of 26,000 cases.

He said to avoid delays, model courts have been established to void any delays.

On Friday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accused the Faizabad sit-in verdict author judge of being ‘biased’ and asked the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) to set aside its February 6 verdict.

“The learned author judge has had such an extreme conviction about the 2014 PTI-PAT dharna at Islamabad and the role of the petitioner and its members that he dragged in the reference of the 2014 sit-in into the matter,” PTI secretary general Arshad Dad alleged through his barrister Syed Ali Zafar.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a member of the two-judge SC bench, had made strong observations and issued directives in the judgement he had authored on Feb 6.
