Pakistan has taken a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties with Armenia as Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan presented his Letters of Credence to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, becoming Pakistan’s first ambassador to the Republic of Armenia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2025.

The credentials were presented at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Yerevan, where President Khachaturyan welcomed Ambassador Khan and congratulated him on his appointment. The Armenian president expressed his best wishes for the ambassador’s tenure and pledged support for efforts aimed at expanding bilateral relations and cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the potential for expanding bilateral engagement, particularly in trade and investment, education, culture, and broader economic cooperation.

Before presenting his credentials, Ambassador Khan held meetings with senior Armenian officials to discuss the bilateral agenda and prospects for expanding cooperation. He called on Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who welcomed the ambassador, congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success in carrying out his diplomatic responsibilities. The two officials reviewed bilateral relations, discussed avenues for increased cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international developments.

Ambassador Khan also met Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan and handed over a copy of his Letters of Credence. The two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation through bilateral and multilateral forums.

The latest diplomatic exchanges underscore the commitment of Islamabad and Yerevan to developing relations and identifying new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation.
