Pakistan People’s Party Senator Rubina Khalid has said that there is no truth to the reports by television channels that PPP co-chairperson, Asif Ali Zardari, had made a plea to be shifted to Karachi on medical grounds.
The senior PPP leader issued a statement which said that Asif Zardari had not applied to be shifted to Karachi on medical grounds, hence the question of his plea being rejected does not arise.
She added, “We have only applied for his private doctors to have access to him. That ruling is expected tomorrow.”
She further stated that their application to move to Karachi on legal and constitutional grounds was currently pending in the Supreme Court.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Zardari in June in the fake bank accounts case. In Aug, the court had sent him to Adiala jail on judicial remand.
