In a bizarre development, 'hidden' camera were found in the polling booth ahead of voting for the election of Senate chairman and deputy chairman on Friday.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Raza Rabbani, on behalf of the opposition, alleged that secret cameras had been set up at the polling booth, adding that this practice violated Article 226 of the Constitution. Senators then began to chant 'shame, shame' slogans. The opposition sought an inquiry to determine who exactly was controlling the Senate.
Following the opposition's protest, the presiding officers issued orders to change the polling booth, saying that a new one should be established.
Meanwhile, Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry told a local news channel that the government was not behind installations of hidden cameras in the Parliament and whoever was responsible for it did a poor job because they were easily found.
Earlier, PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar tweeted that he and PML-N Senator Musadiq Malik saw 'spy cameras' around the polling booth in Senate.
