Actress Wears Dress Embroidered With Names of Snubbed Women Directors At Academy Awards
Israeli-American actress and director Natalie Portman had worn a dress at Oscars 2020, embroidered with the names of women directors, who were not nominated by Academy.

Her Dior cape was embroidered with the names of the snubbed women directors in the best director category.

Natalie Portman, while giving an interview, said on the red carpet that “I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year, in my subtle way.”

The names listed included Greta Gerwig, who directed Little Women and Melina Matsoukas, the woman behind Queen & Slim.

Previously, Portman had criticized the prejudice in Hollywood in favor of male directors, in particular in 2018 when she presented the nominees for Best Director at the Golden Globes. "Here are the all-male nominees," she said.
