‘Justice Ijazul Ahsan Wants Era Of Like-Minded Benches Back In SC’

Supreme Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan wants an era of like-minded benches back in the apex court, and during the tenure of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, he was the one who was acting as the chief justice.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that Justice Ijazul Ahsan is trying hard to save Justice Sayyed Muhammad Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), adding that the judge is not concerned about law and justice in the country.

While talking about the first podcast of journalist Imran Riaz Khan after his recovery from disappearance, the analyst said that it is a fact that Imran was forced disappeared, but he didn’t reveal anything in his first podcast. “That was the reconciliatory podcast, as he didn’t disclose who picked him,” he added.

“Now Imran Riaz says no one should be forcibly disappeared but in the past, he used to say that agencies only pick those who commit something wrong,” Suharwardy said.

The analyst said that from now on, Imran Riaz will continue to support the PTI but will avoid criticizing the establishment.

While responding to a question, Suharwardy said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London chief Altaf Hussain is seeking tickets from the PTI for a few of his party leaders to contest elections in Karachi.

The analyst said that Altaf will not return to Pakistan, and no state institution is holding talks with him regarding this. He said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) should strengthen itself to compete against MQM-L.
