The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully concluded its ‘Golden Eagle’ training exercise, placing a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and the integration of new indigenous technologies, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Monday.
According to ISPR, the exercise was conducted within the Southern Air Command’s area of responsibility to assess combat readiness and operational flexibility through the coordinated deployment of the PAF’s full combat capabilities. The operation was carried out under unified command and control from the Next-Generation All-Domain Command and Control Centre at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
The exercise was structured around a two-force scenario, focusing specifically on AI-enabled and net-centric operations while incorporating indigenous, innovative, and disruptive technologies. These efforts align with the evolving security landscape of the region and highlight the PAF’s commitment to modernising its operational toolkit.
ISPR further noted that participants operated within a highly integrated air defence system, effectively synchronising kinetic, cyber, space, and electromagnetic spectrum operations. The kinetic phase of the exercise showcased swing-role combat aircraft engaging in first-shoot, first-kill scenarios, armed with long-range beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles, extended-range stand-off weapons, and precision strike capabilities. These aircraft were supported by airborne early warning and control platforms, as well as air-to-air refuellers.
A major highlight of the exercise was the implementation of manned-unmanned teaming, with drones and loitering munitions deployed to operate in contested, congested, and degraded environments. This phase tested the PAF’s ability to conduct high-tempo operations and demonstrated the seamless integration of emerging technologies into complex combat scenarios.
ISPR concluded that the successful execution of exercise ‘Golden Eagle’ reaffirms the PAF’s dedication to maintaining the highest level of operational preparedness, harnessing indigenous innovation, and addressing both present and future security challenges effectively.
