Medical board formed on the Sindh High Court’s orders has confirmed that Christian girl Arzoo Raja who was forcibly converted and married to a 40-year-old Muslim man in Karachi is 14-15 years old.
A two member bench comprising Justice K.K Agha and Justice Amjad Ali heard the case pertaining to abduction, forced conversion and under age marriage of Arzoo.
When Arzoo was asked by the court if she was forcibly converted to Islam, she replied that she wasn't, adding that she wants to return to her 'husband'.
The court directed government to shift Arzoo to a shelter home so only a few people whom she approves of will be able to see her.
The investigation officer informed the bench that the case was now registered under the Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013.
The hearing has been adjourned till November 13.
Separately, lawyer and acitivst Jibran Nasir who is fighting the case of Arzoo accused the local church of trying to "defraud" parents by making them sign an oath depriving them of lawful guardianship of their daughter.
"First a pedophile took away #Arzoo from her parents by kidnapping & contracting child marriage & now certain Church Officials attempted to defraud parents wanting to deprive them of lawful custody of their daughter by trying to get parents sign a statement on oath to same effect" Jibran tweeted.
