A Sialkot businessman, Muhammad Mubashir, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself on Sunday when he identified symptoms of the deadly coronavirus in his body.
Muhammad Mubashir was a trader of surgical goods. His family members told the local police that he was under severe depression due to the rising cases of coronavirus in the country. He got himself tested for the virus a few days ago after showing symptoms. Since then, he had gone into self-isolation. The family of the deceased confirmed that his test reports are yet to come.
This is not the first case of its kind where the fear of coronavirus forced a person to take its own live. Last month, an elderly COVID-19 patient had committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of Karachi's Jinnah Hospital. He was a resident of Landhi who was suffering from psychological complications.
According to the JPMC Executive Director, Dr. Seemin Jamali, the deceased was a drug addict who was kept in the coronavirus isolation facility of the hospital.
