In a positive development, the manufacturing of the specialised N-95 masks that are used to prevent the deadly coronavirus has started in Pakistan.
Samaa News reported that N-95 masks have started getting manufactured at a factory in Faisalabad. Over 150,000 masks are now being manufactured daily. Market distribution of the masks is expected to start in two weeks.
In this regard, Federal Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said the manufactured masks would be an important factor in the fight against the virus.
The fatal coronavirus has claimed 2,172 lives in Pakistan, including 105 deaths in last 24 hours, while 35,018 patients have recovered successfully and have been discharged from the hospitals. Moreover, as many as 1,489 infected patients are currently in critical condition across the country.
The national tally of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 108, 317, including 4,646 cases in last 24 hours. The provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan have confirmed 40,819, 39,555, 14,006, 6,788 cases respectively. Meanwhile, 952 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, 5,785 in Islamabad, and 412 in Kashmir have been reported to date.
