A woman from Takhtabahi region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district committed suicide after she was forced into engagement with a man she didn’t want to marry.
Identified as Yasmin, the woman didn’t want to marry the boy her parents had chosen for her and was very unhappy with the engagement. She was a teacher by profession and wanted an educated man for a husband.
Police in statement said, “She didn’t want to marry a relative but the family and parents insisted it. She was not happy with the development and after several days of discussion with parents and later took her life. She took a pistol and committed suicide. The poor girl was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival.”
