Pakistan’s MMA fighter Ovais Shah is set to make his debut in ONE Championship on Friday against a tough opponent in China’s Hexigetu, but Shah believes he will win via a first round knockout.
Ovais is one of Pakistan’s MMA pioneers. His first fight was against Uloomi Karim in 2012, but he had started training quite a while before that. He said that he has been working for almost a decade in Pakistan’s MMA industry and wants to build a foundation for youngsters and come and take over the world.
About his opponent, Shah said that the Chinese Wushu expert had an advantage in stand up but his reach advantage might prove too much for his Chinese counterpart. The Pakistani MMA star said that he has an unorthodox fighting style which might prove to be difficult for Hexigetu.
Shah said that he visions the fight as a TKO win for himself. “My prediction is that I will finish the fight in the second round via knockout of technical knockout (TKO)”.
He also described his daily routine saying that he usually spends most of his time practicing MMA and helping young kids learn new techniques and skills. The Karachi-based fighter also thanked his training partner Osama Khan, who Shah said was another promising young star and would soon enter the world of ONE.
The fight starts at around 4pm Pakistan Standard Time and will take place in Bangkok Impact Arena on Friday (May 10).
