National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that the violence against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders by workers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday outside the Parliament House ahead of Prime Minister Imran Khan's vote of confidence was 'regrettable', adding that the incident would be thoroughly investigated.
National Assembly Secretariat issued a statement in which the speaker termed such incidents 'regrettable and condemnable'.
Asad Qaiser also said that politics should be done with tolerance and patience, urging the leadership of political parties to do the needful. The speaker further said that being public representatives, parliamentarians are to be respected.
Although he promised an investigation, the statement does not mention as to which body or individual will hold the probe.
