Lawyers protesting against the demolition of their chambers reacted against authorities by attacking the Islamabad High Court, trapping Chief Justice Athar Minallah within. The lawyers' chambers within the District and Sessions Court Islamabad had been deemed illegal and demolished by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The lawyers began by raising slogans in the premises of the High Court, and eventually began breaking windows and damaging the Chief Justice Block. Reports indicate that operatives of the Special Security Police were not present there at that time, and detachments of the Islamabad police also did not arrive until later.
The rampaging lawyers went on to chant slogans against the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, who remained barricaded within his chambers. Moreover, the lawyers also reportedly misbehaved with journalists on the scene, clashing with those who attempted to capture the attack on video.
