Parents and family members of the children who lost their lives in the deadly terror attack on Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court on Saturday, demanding contempt of court proceedings against several government officials in the wake of reports that former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan has escaped from custody.
The petition was submitted by Shuhada APS Forum President Fazal Khan Advocate. The petition has made army chief, DG ISI, federal and provincial secretaries respondents. The petitioner maintained that the authorities had violated earlier orders of the PHC banning authorities from releasing Ehsan.
DAWN newspaper reported that the petitioner said he had been informed through reliable sources that clemency was in order of Ehsanullah Ehsan for his ‘full and frank disclosure’ which is not only highly deplorable but also outrightly illegal and unconstitutional."
The petitioner also said that the respondents had earlier assured the court that Ehsanullah Ehsan would be tried by a military court and would not be given mercy.
