Cruz Beckham is increasingly carving out his own path in music, with the 21-year-old reportedly determined to build a career independent of his family's fame.
The son of former football star David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham has spent the summer performing with his band, The Breakers, including a recent appearance at Reading Festival, where members of his family watched from the sidelines.
According to a report published by the Daily Mirror, Cruz has made clear that he does not want his family’s connections to dictate the direction of his career. A source cited by the newspaper said he had rejected his parents' attempts to help raise his profile and instead wanted to establish himself through his music.
The reported decision reflects Cruz’s desire to be recognized for his work rather than simply as a member of one of Britain’s best-known celebrity families.
His approach comes as the Beckham family continues to attract attention over reported tensions involving his eldest brother, Brooklyn Beckham, and their parents and siblings.
Brooklyn has pursued several different professional ventures, including photography, cooking and a hot sauce business. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Nicola Peltz, according to the report.
Cruz, by contrast, appears to have maintained a more focused direction in music. The source said his interest began when he was young, with Cruz spending considerable time learning instruments, writing songs and developing his abilities away from the public spotlight.
He has reportedly even considered using only his band's name, The Breakers, as his musical identity, further separating his professional work from the Beckham surname.

At Reading Festival, Cruz spoke to the audience before dedicating a song to his younger sister, who was watching from the crowd. He described the appearance as the band’s second-to-last performance of its tour and thanked fans for supporting the group.
