The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday has rejected criticism from Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari saying that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has ‘narrow vision’ with regard to the Kashmir dispute.
The Foreign Office, while giving a news briefing, rejected the criticism by Shireen Mazari, insisting that the “vision of Pakistan’s foreign policy is given at the leadership level by the government.”
Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui, while responding to a question in reference to Mazari’s remarks said, “the steering of this vision is carried out under the direction of the foreign minister [Shah Mahmood Qureshi] by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
Recently, Shireen Mazari had endorsed the view expressed by some opposition MPs that the Foreign Office has ‘narrow vision’ regarding the Kashmir dispute and they have done little to strengthen the case of Kashmir in international community.
However, the minister took to Twitter on Thursday, saying that her name was not mentioned, nor any comment was made with reference to her statement on Kashmir in MoFA briefing.
