Lahore Corps Brigadier (Internal Security) Muhammad Asim Imran wrote to Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik and summoned a meeting of government officials on the Corps Commander's behalf to ‘discuss the efforts undertaken to combat covid-19’ and ‘wheat procurement’ in the province.
“A special meeting may be convened on May 5, 2020 at 1130 hours in Chief Minister Secretariat to discuss/review the efforts undertaken to combat COVID-19 pandemic in Punjab province,” the notification issued by Headquarters 4 Corps Lahore Cantonment read.
The notification also mentioned progress of wheat procurement and roadmap for achieving its set target as meeting’s agenda.
The deadly coronavirus has claimed 526 lives in Pakistan, while 6,217 patients have recovered successfully and have been discharged from the hospitals.
The national tally of coronavirus confirmed cases has risen to 22,823, with the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan confirming 8,693, 8,189, 3,499, 1,495 cases respectively. Meanwhile, 386 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, 485 in Islamabad, and 76 in Kashmir have been reported to date.
