At least seven people, including four security personnel, were martyred in two separate gun attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, officials confirmed.
In Karak district’s Garagri area, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a Frontier Constabulary (FC) vehicle, killing four personnel, including a driver. The FC team had been on routine patrol duty and was providing security to a gas company operating in the region.
District Police Officer (DPO) Karak, Shehbaz Elahi, confirmed the attack and said a search operation is underway to apprehend the attackers. No group has claimed responsibility so far.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur strongly condemned the attack and directed authorities to take immediate action to trace and arrest the perpetrators. “We salute our security personnel who laid down their lives for the country,” he stated.
Governor Faisal Kundi also condemned the killings, vowing that the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism will not go in vain.
In a separate incident late Tuesday night, Police Inspector Ali Hussain and two of his friends were shot dead on Peshawar’s Warsak Road. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Masood Ahmed, four attackers on two motorbikes opened fire using a pistol and a submachine gun (SMG). All three victims died on the spot.
Police said geo-fencing and forensic work are underway as part of the investigation.
These incidents come amid a persistent wave of militant violence in KP and Balochistan, particularly since the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in late 2022. While recent reports show a slight decline in attacks in June, security forces and civilians remain frequent targets of deadly assaults across the region.
