The government of Punjab has lifted the ban on the supply of flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The decision was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar during a meeting attended by food ministers and secretaries of both provinces.
The chief minister said that Punjab would fulfill the flour needs of the province of KP and that the decision was a goodwill gesture for the people of the KP.
He added that the flour supply would be monitored on a regular bases and a joint body would be established in this regard.
The chief minister was thanked by the KP food minister, who welcomed the decision.
In another meeting, CM Buzdar reviewed the steps taken regarding the welfare of farmers.
The chief minister pledged to protect the rights of farmers and that no one would be allowed to usurp the rights of farmers.
Recently, the Pakistan Flour Mills Association had raised fears of an impending flour crisis in KP after the supply of flour from Punjab had been halted.
