Pakistan Navy Thwarts Indian Attempt To Enter Pakistani Waters
Almost a week after Indian Air Force (IAF) jets intruded into Pakistani airspace, Indian Navy submarine tried to enter Pakistan’s waters but was intercepted by the country’s naval forces.

Pakistan Navy spokesperson said that the country’s naval forces detected Indian submarine in its maritime zone and thwarted its attempt to enter into Pakistan’s waters. He said the submarine was not targeted due to Pakistan’s commitment for peace and stability in the region.

The spokesperson also lauded navy officers for their vigilance and professionalism that led to failure of India’s attempt to once again intrude into Pakistan’s territory.

"The Pakistan Navy used its specialized skills to ward off the submarine, successfully keeping it from entering Pakistani waters," he said, adding that the fact an Indian submarine laden with modern technology was detected by the Pakistan Navy is a loss for the India.

This is the second time since 2016 that the Pakistan Navy has detected an Indian submarine trying to enter Pakistani waters.

Pakistan territorial waters are 12 nautical miles while its seabed territory — the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) — grew to 290,000 square kilometres in 2015.

Tensions between Pakistan and India are high since the Pulwama Attack. Last week on Tuesday, Indian Air Force jets intruded into Pakistan’s territory and dropped payload near Balakot.

On Wednesday, two Indian jets entered Pakistan’s airspace again but were shot down by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets. Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was arrested who was released on Friday as peace gesture.

Indian forces have also resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LOC) resulting in deaths of civilians and security officials.
